LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept, 17, 2009) – Finding the funds to finish college can be difficult for adults who want to earn their college degrees later in life, but there are special scholarships available at the University of Kentucky.
Many of these scholarship and grant opportunities have pending deadlines.
The deadline for the Childcare Grant offered by the UK Student Government Association is Friday, Sept. 18. UK students who have dependent children are urged to apply online. A committee determines how much is awarded based on the need of qualified students.
There are also three adult student scholarship opportunities with a deadline of Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Academic Excellence Scholarships are available to undergraduate, part-time students age 25 and over, who have a 3.25 GPA or better. This scholarship is worth $1,000.
UK Women's Forum Book Awards are also available to UK regular full-time employees enrolled in UK classes who a have 2.0 GPA or better.
Students who have a 3.25 GPA and have been enrolled in an electronically delivered course in the 2009 spring, summer, or fall semesters are encouraged to apply for the Nofflet D. Williams Scholarship, which awards $500.
In addition, students pursuing Ph.D., Ed.D., D.M.A. or D.S. degrees who have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA are encouraged to apply for the UK Woman’s Club Fellowships awarding $2,000 each. The deadline is October 21.
