Beloved holiday tradition is back: 'NUTCRACKER!' returns to Singletary stage

"NUTCRACKER" returns to the Singletary stage on Nov. 21.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 16, 2023) — The excitement of the holiday season comes alive as the "NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet" returns to the Singletary Center for the Arts (SCFA) stage on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Boasting a cast of stars and dancers made up of top artists from around the globe, including Ukraine, Japan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Germany and more, "NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet" promises to transport the whole family to a world of wonder and festive delight.

Since the Western premiere of the ballet in the 1940s, "The Nutcracker" has become a staple in holiday traditions for families and ballet enthusiasts alike.  Averaging 100 performances during November and December, this phenomenon combines the highest caliber ballet with historic international theatrical traditions, acrobatics, 10-foot-tall playful puppets, nine intricately hand-painted backdrops and hundreds of exquisite costumes.

Tuesday's "NUTCRACKER" performance will also showcase the talents of young dancers hailing from various Kentucky dance programs. These budding artists will grace the stage alongside the professional company, integrating into the production with roles specially crafted for them as part of the "Dance with Us" program.

We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
