LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 3, 2025) — The University of Kentucky Opera Theatre’s annual “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!” returns for its 32nd season with six performances over two weekends, June 13-22, at UK’s Singletary Center for the Arts.

Each summer, UK Opera Theatre produces “It’s a Grand Night for Singing!,” a popular musical revue featuring the best of Broadway’s past and present, starring more than 100 UK Opera Theatre and community performers. In 2017, UK celebrated the 25th anniversary of “Grand Night” and won an Emmy for the KET broadcast of the production.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 13; 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14; and 6 p.m. Sunday, June 15. The second weekend includes shows at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 20; 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22.

Tickets are $61 plus fees for adults and $15 plus fees for children 12 and under. They can be purchased at singletarycenter.com or by calling 859-257-4929.

In 1992, the UK School of Music’s opera program debuted a summer show celebrating the talent of its students, creating a platform for students to practice the musical theater songbook. Over the years, this intimate musical revue has grown into a spectacular production with more than 100 performers, a full orchestra, sets and costumes to rival professional companies. The show represents an important partnership between the university and the Lexington community, bringing students and local artists together to share the limelight.
