LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2011) Alltech and University of Kentucky Opera Theatre invite the public to lend their voices to the sixth annual "Alltech Holiday Celebration of Song" at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Victorian Square Atrium, located at the corner of Main Street and Broadway in downtown Lexington. The sing-along holiday concert is free and open to the public.

Director of UK Opera Theatre Everett McCorvey takes to the conductor's podium to lead the Victorian Square Orchestra and award-winning vocalists from UK Opera Theatre in "Celebration of Song." Other performers of the festive event include Metropolitan Opera lyric soprano and UK Endowed Chair in Music Cynthia Lawrence, and winning voices from the 2011 Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition. UK graduate student and Alltech Vocal Scholarship winner Julie LaDouceur will emcee the event.

In addition to UK talents, "Celebration of Song" also highlights the voices and musical talents of the Bluegrass community. Local groups the Lexington Singers Children's Choir and the handbell ensemble Alluring will perform at the special event, which also encourages the public to become part of the concert and sing along to a great selection of well-known seasonal songs and carols.

UK Opera Theatre is part of the UK School of Music at the UK College of Fine Arts . The School of Music has garnered national recognition for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as music education, composition, theory and music history.
