LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 20, 2022) — In continued celebration of the many talents of the faculty and staff of University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare, Arts in HealthCare is issuing the 9th annual juried call for art. The purpose of this call is to encourage employees to think about and experience the healing power of art and understand how art enhances the healing environment.

The art call is open to all UK employees and their immediate family members. Participants may submit up to three pieces of two-dimensional art in any medium by emailing a photograph of each piece along with their completed submission form to: sarah.timmons@uky.edu.

The deadline to submit is June 24, 2022.

Selected artists will be notified via email by July 29, 2022. Notification will include instructions for delivering selected works to Arts in HealthCare. Art should be unframed and no larger than 20x30. If an artist submits photography and it is selected, the photograph(s) will be printed by the Arts in HealthCare Department.

The art, selected by an independent jury, will be framed and exhibited in two employee galleries at UK Chandler Hospital Pavilion H and UK Good Samaritan. After selection and exhibition in the employee galleries, the art may become part of the UK Arts in HealthCare permanent collection. Donated works will be moved to a clinical location with employee recognition. Donation is not required for participation. If you choose not to donate, your work(s) will be returned to you (unframed) after the exhibit's end.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
