UK Theatre Takes Magical Adventure With 'Peter and the Starcatcher'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 19, 2018) University of Kentucky Department of Theatre and Dance brings Peter Pan's early adventures to life onstage with its next production "Peter and the Starcatcher." The play will run Nov. 29-Dec. 2, at the Guignol Theatre.

Before he became “The Boy Who Never Grew Up,” Peter was a young orphan on a magical adventure. As he faces swashbuckling pirates and a fearless young girl, he discovers who he's meant to be: "the semi to me colon," according to the notorious Black Stache. Winner of five Tony Awards, “Peter and the Starcatcher” takes audiences on an adventure as unpredictable as the vast blue ocean. 

Audiences can join "Peter and the Starcatcher" on the high seas 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Guignol Theatre. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students who present a valid student ID at the ticket office. A fee and sales tax will be added to the transaction upon purchase.

The UK Department of Theatre and Dance at UK College of Fine Arts has played an active role in the performance scene in Central Kentucky for more than 100 years. Students in the program get hands-on training and one-on-one mentorship from the renowned professional theatre faculty. The liberal arts focus of their bachelor's degree program is coupled with ongoing career counseling to ensure a successful transition from campus to professional life.
