Taking Care of Our Community

President Capilouto sent the following message to the UK community on September 5, 2017.

Wildcat family,

At the University of Kentucky, we put our students at the center of everything we do. And that means working to support our students when tragedy occurs. On our campus now, for example, as many as 70 of our students are from Houston and other areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

And we want to provide members of Big Blue Nation an avenue to provide assistance to those in need. We recently established an Emergency Assistance and Relief Fund where you can donate to support those on our campus who have been negatively impacted by Hurricane Harvey and other tragic events.

Here’s how the fund will work:

• The Emergency Assistance and Relief fund will provide support to students facing a financial emergency or catastrophic events, which may prevent them from continuing their education.

• The fund also will support volunteer humanitarian and outreach work by students, faculty, and staff who want to work in areas affected by natural disasters and other catastrophic events.

This effort is not limited to Hurricane Harvey. We will be utilizing this fund, and resources throughout our campus, to help students in a time of need.

I invite you to join us in supporting students and humanitarian outreach efforts by making a donation to the Emergency Assistance and Relief Fund.

I always am gratified by efforts across of our community to reach out to help those in need.

Sincerely,

Eli Capilouto

President
