2024-2025 commuter permit renewal
LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 2, 2024) — Commuter (C) permit sales for returning commuter students will start at noon on Tuesday, July 9. This presale window for returning commuter students will continue through Friday, July 19.
Commuter permit sales for all remaining eligible commuter students who have 60 or more credit hours and live more than one mile from campus will start at noon on Tuesday, July 23, and continue until permits are sold out.
Commuter permits cost $336 per academic year and are only available for purchase for a full academic year (eight months).
Commuter permits do not authorize permit holders to park overnight on campus without prior authorization from UK Transportation Services.
Commuter Parking Areas
Students who choose to purchase a commuter permit — Scott Street Lots (C9); Cornerstone Garage (C5); South Broadway Lots (C40); South Mill Lot (C41) — are authorized to park within their designated area or in the commuter periphery (CK) lots.
Commuter permit holders can also take advantage of off-peak campus parking, which authorizes them to park in most employee intermediate lots after 3:30 p.m. There are some exceptions, so please pay attention to signage at the entrances to lots and structures.

Students who qualify for and are seeking a less expensive option may consider purchasing a commuter periphery (CK) permit. Commuter periphery (CK) permits cost $272 per academic year or $136 per semester.
Purchasing a Permit
To purchase a permit online, simply log into your customer account using your linkblue ID and password.
Please have the make, model, color, year and license plate state and number of your vehicle available, as vehicle information is required before a permit purchase can be processed.
Permits purchased online can be mailed to your home mailing address or picked up in person at our customer service center located at 721 Press Avenue. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you plan to pick up your permit, please allow one full business day for processing. Prepurchased permits can also be picked up at our exterior express window, which opens at 6:30 a.m. weekdays.
All outstanding parking citations must be paid before a permit purchase may be processed. Citations may be paid online or in the Transportation Services office.
Permit renewal time also offers students a good opportunity to consider other methods of transportation to, from and around campus, rather than single occupancy vehicles. Transportation Services offers several attractive incentives to encourage both employees and students to consider sustainable options, such as biking, busing, walking or ride-sharing. Permit Control Dates
Summer campus parking arrangements and control will end on Friday, Aug. 9. Commuter lots will go on control for designated permits beginning on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Periphery (RK and CK) lots temporarily go off control on Saturday, Aug. 10, and return to permit control on Monday, Aug. 26, when classes begin.
