In addition to his work as a lecturer and critic, Idenburg is the director of SO-IL design agency. SO-IL is a proactive agency that develops ideas in the realm of art, architecture and the city of Brooklyn where the firm is based. The firm is currently involved in projects in the United States, the Netherlands and China. Its ambition is to play a participatory or catalytic role in projects that enhance the exchange of ambitiously progressive ideas. SO-IL and its work have been featured in a variety of publications including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. The agency recently was named one of the 2010 Sukkah City winners for the installation "In Tension," as well as the 2010 winner of the Museum of Modern Art and P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center’s Young Architects Program for the installation "Pole Dance" on exhibit in the P.S.1 courtyard in Long Island City through the month of September.

While he is here teaching in Lexington this semester as the Brown Forman Chair in Urban Design, the public can see an exhibition of SO-IL's award-winning work.
