College of Public Health Offers New Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 26, 2015) — The UK College of Public Health is offering a new graduate certificate program in biostatistics, the branch of statistics dealing with the analysis and interpretation of data related to biological science and health.

The certificate requires 15 credit hours of course work and provides students in academic programs outside of the Department of Biostatistics with the opportunity to gain a background in the design and analysis of biomedical studies. Courses in the program will provide students with an introduction to methodological applications in public health and medical research, which are skills attractive to future employers.

In order to be admitted to the graduate certificate program, students must apply to the UK Graduate School.  Information on application deadlines and necessary forms for completion can be found at http://www.research.uky.edu/gs/.  The College of Public Health encourages all students with an interest in biostatistics, statistical analysis or medical research to consider the certificate program.

In addition, the College of Public Health offers graduate certificates in gerontology, global health, maternal and child health, and public health management.
