LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2021)  It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for — the date for DanceBlue 2021 is finally revealed! The DanceBlue 2021 Marathon will take place virtually on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

With virtual modality, DanceBlue 2021 will be a never-before-seen experience full of unique attributes and interactive platforms. The team behind the marathon is so excited to turn the challenges of this year into an incredible marathon.

With the thrilling new virtual plans, this year’s marathon is bringing us back to the roots of DanceBlue — our commitment to the kids, regardless of what that may look like. This year, that commitment embodies the true spirit of the kids, who never stop dancing no matter the strife.

“To make the decision about the DanceBlue 2021 marathon going virtual was not taken lightly, but the reason behind doing it is the reason behind everything we do — FTK. During these times, watching out for our own safety and safety of others around us is so important, and we have the kids in mind first while making all our decisions,” said Allie Holt, DanceBlue 2021’s Overall Chair. “We are so excited to have the opportunity to rewrite what DanceBlue looks like this year and can’t wait for everyone involved to experience this truly unique year!”

More information will be released in the coming weeks, so be sure to follow the DanceBlue social media accounts to stay up to date. All questions will be answered in a public platform shortly, but specific questions can be emailed to dancerrelations@danceblue.org

DanceBlue is the University of Kentucky's 24-hour, no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon that benefits the Golden Matrix Fund. The DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic opened its brand-new facility in 2017 after a complete renovation funded solely from DanceBlue. As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
