DanceBlue Announces 2017 Marathon Date

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 1, 2016) — DanceBlue announced that the 2017 dance marathon will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, and conclude 24 hours later, at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26. The countdown toward the "best day of the year" has officially begun!

The 2017 marathon will serve as a celebration of 364 days of hard work For The Kids and the brand new DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology clinic opening in January. The new DanceBlue clinic has been a four-year project funded by the students involved in DanceBlue.

“With the new DanceBlue KCH Hematology/Oncology Clinic opening in January, this year has been a fantastic representation of our long-term commitment to fight, For the Kids,” Overall DanceBlue Chair Richie Simpson said.

“Our committee has worked tirelessly to provide support for the families through a variety of capacities in the clinic. Each day they continue to show that the University of Kentucky will stand with them until cancer is cured.”

DanceBlue is UK’s 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that benefits the Golden Matrix Fund and the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Now in its 12th year, DanceBlue has raised more than $9.8 million for pediatric cancer research and child-life efforts.
