Employees: Vote for Your Favorite Appreciation Day T-Shirt Design Starting Today
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 8, 2022) — University of Kentucky Appreciation Day (UKAD) is scheduled for May 26, 2022. The event will take place at the Gatton Student Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weather permitting, all activities will be outside to include seats for dining, with the food being served as take-out in the Grand Ballroom.
Supervisors are encouraged to adjust schedules accordingly without requiring leave to be utilized. UK HealthCare employees should notify their supervisors in advance if they would like to attend, so schedules can be adjusted accordingly to not impact patient care.
Pick Your Favorite T-Shirt Design
Almost 50 people submitted designs for the 2022 Appreciation Day T-shirt design contest. UK employees can vote now through March 15, 2022, for their favorite T-shirt design. The design that receives the most votes will be printed on this year’s T-shirt. To cast your vote, click here.
Department T-shirt orders
We are still accepting department orders for T-shirts. The orders must be completed through the Staff Senate online order form no later than March 25, 2022. Every department that completes the form will receive an immediate follow-up message signaling confirmation of the order. You are advised to check your quantities/sizes ordered for accuracy and save confirmation for proof of order placed — a link will appear at the top of the confirmation page after you submit your order. A confirmation number will be sent by April 8 to the main contact who placed the department order.
Shirts will be distributed prior to Appreciation Day at multiple locations. The person listed on the order as the department contact will receive a confirmation email by April 8 which will have the date and pick-up location. Orders that are not claimed the day of the distribution will be forfeited. There are no individual orders or late orders. You can place your department order here.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
