Free Uber rides available through UK Wildcab Vouchers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 24, 2026) — University of Kentucky students can get free or discounted Uber rides by signing up for the Wildcab Vouchers program.

Wildcab Vouchers is free and made possible by a partnership between UK Transportation Services, the UK Student Government Association and Uber.

Details:

  • Students receive up to ten $10 rides per semester.
  • Rides are valid Thursday through Sunday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for anywhere within Fayette County.
  • Students are responsible for any amount over the initial $10 when redeeming a voucher; however, many rides within the service area are $10 or less, in which case rides will be essentially free.
  • Students can choose to redeem a voucher on a ride or save it for a future trip.
  • Driver tips are extra and are the financial responsibility of the student. Additional voucher terms and conditions may apply upon redemption.

Sign up for Wildcab Vouchers today. Your voucher will be available immediately and will be added to your Uber account wallet for use during program service hours. Vouchers expire at the end of each semester, but students can sign up for the program at any time during the semester.

“The Wildcab Vouchers program is extremely popular and is growing every year,” said James Hutchins, associate director, UK Transportation Services. “This collaboration between our office and Uber has been successful because it gives students another reliable travel option late at night and hopefully helps them make responsible late-night decisions.”

During Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, students took 50,263 trips using a voucher. Since the program’s inception, students have taken 82,020 rides.
