Keep the Change: 20 Campus Meters Now Accept Credit Cards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb.  21, 2017) Using a University of Kentucky parking meter just got more convenient. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) recently upgraded a total of 20 meters to allow for payment by credit card, eliminating the need to hunt for loose change. The meters are located in the Prall Street Lot and the Commonwealth Stadium Green Lot, with 10 in each location.

The new meters accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. The Prall Street Lot meters have a time limit of three hours, while the Green Lot meters are restricted to 45-minute parking.

The meter upgrade is just the latest instance of technological advancements being used to improve the experience of getting to, from and around campus. In February 2016, PTS installed a digital space counter sign at the entrance to the Press Avenue Garage (PS #6). This sign allows drivers to avoid searching for space in the garage if the structure has already reached capacity. Additionally, since 2011, PTS has used the TransLoc Rider app for real-time campus bus tracking, allowing students and employees to better plan their travels and save time. Students can also request late-night Kentucky Wildcab rides through the same app.
