Lifelong Learning Institute to Hold Open House Aug. 20
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2013) — Curiosity never retires; it joins the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Kentucky!
Adults age 50 or over who love learning for the joy of it are invited to the OLLI open house on Aug. 20. Join more than 1,300 dynamic adult learners in Lexington who share their ideas, interests and passion for learning. The open house and registration is from 1-3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the gymnasium of Tates Creek Christian Church, at 3150 Tates Creek Road in Lexington.
Attendees preview and choose from more than 50 courses, shared interest groups, trips, community engagement opportunities, 13 Donovan Forum Presentations, and more for fall. They can chat with instructors and hear about upcoming speakers, a variety of art and music events, and shared interest groups. The Open House also offers refreshments and door prizes.
There are many ways to get involved with OLLI. Sign up for a Fall course such as Roman Britain and the Search for King Arthur, Hindu Philosophy and Culture, the Art and Science of English Change Ringing, Spaceship Earth, Chinese Calligraphy, Children’s Literature, Paleokitchen, and more. Get involved with our 65-plus member chorus, sign up to serve as a mentor for Fayette County Public Schools, learn how to play a dulcimer or dabble in the visual arts with the Quandaries of the Color Wheel.
Registration tables will be open during the event. Annual membership through summer 2014 is $25. Course fees vary, however, most are $15 for the semester.
