Sign Up Now for Airport Shuttle Bus Service for Thanksgiving Break

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2018) — Are you traveling for Thanksgiving and need a ride to the airport? University of Kentucky Transportation Services is offering free airport bus service from Kroger Field to Blue Grass Airport (LEX), Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) for the Thanksgiving academic break. 

Airport shuttle bus service is available to UK students, faculty and staff over a three-day period: Monday, Nov. 19, through Wednesday, Nov. 21. New this year, Transportation Services, in partnership with the Student Transportation Fee Advisory Council, has added free shuttle service, as a one-year pilot program, to the Louisville and Cincinnati airports, in addition to the Lexington airport. Free return trips from all three airports are also available Sunday, Nov. 25. More details about airport bus shuttles can be found here.

“This service is a great way for the campus community to travel to the various regional airports without having to worry about finding a ride or paying to park at the airport,” said Lance Broeking, director of UK Transportation Services. “This service is another way in which the university is working to ensure that our students can thrive at UK without the need to have a car.”

Airport bus shuttles to all three airports will leave from Kroger Field every two hours Monday, Nov. 19, through Wednesday, Nov. 21. Departures begin at 6 a.m., followed by 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. shuttles. Riders should plan to arrive at their destination airport at least two hours before take-off. Registration for airport bus service is available online and must be requested at least two days in advance.

Return trips from all three airports are also available Sunday, Nov. 25. Airport shuttle buses will pick-up every two hours: 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Riders will be transported back to Kroger Field, where they can catch the Yellow Route for transportation to the broader campus.

For students who need assistance getting to Kroger Field, Transportation Services will also provide free campus shuttle service Monday, Nov. 19, through Wednesday, Nov. 21. Pick-up locations and times can be found here. You must register for campus shuttle pick-up.

UK Transportation Services will also offer airport bus service during winter and spring breaks.
