LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2023) — The University of Kentucky Stuckert Career Center is currently accepting nominations for the UK Intern of the Year and UK Employer of the Year awards. These awards serve to recognize the achievements of interns and to acknowledge the deep investment employers make in our students every year. The UK Intern of the Year Award recognizes the achievements of students who have excelled in an internship or co-op experience over the past year and acknowledges the impact they have made on their organization. Businesses, nonprofits and government agencies as well as UK offices, departments and faculty can nominate graduate or undergraduate students for UK Intern of the Year.

The Awards Selection Committee will review applications based on the student’s record of exceeding expectations in their internship, improving soft skills necessary for professional success, positively impacting their organization, and growing throughout their experience. Nominees must have been active in their internship between January 2022 and December 2022.

Last year, the UK Intern of the Year Award was presented to undergraduate Alyssa Hargis for her outstanding work with the Kentucky Department of Public Health, and to graduate student Brionna Taylor for her contributions to the Hodgenville Police Department and the Erlanger Police Department.

For more information on the Intern of the Year Award, visit the Stuckert Career Center website.

The UK Employer of the Year Award is presented annually to an employer for significant contributions to the University of Kentucky through recruitment and hiring of our students, as well as engagement with UK Career Services to support career programs and professional development on campus.

Applications will be judged by level of engagement with UK and its students, including involvement in student informational interviews, job-shadowing experiences, campus career fairs, employer panels, classroom presentations, student organization and service-learning activities. Outstanding applicants will have provided student interns with mentorship training, professional development opportunities, and challenging roles and assignments. Employers must have hosted at least one student intern between January 2022 and December 2022.

Last year’s UK Employer of the Year was Coastal Cloud, a company committed to innovative technological consultation.
