Summer parking permits available May 6
LEXINGTON, KY (April 26, 2024) — Summer parking permits will be available for University of Kentucky students beginning on Monday, May 6. The permits cost $10.50 per week and can be purchased for the total number of weeks needed.
A valid UK parking permit is required when parking on campus during the summer. Summer parking enforcement begins Monday, May 13, and continues through Friday, Aug. 9.
Summer permits are not available online, but may be purchased at UK Transportation Services' customer service center, located at 721 Press Avenue, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They are also available for sale by phone at 859-257-5757.
The only students eligible for E-academic permits over the summer are students registered as teaching assistants (TA), graduate assistants (GA) or resident assistants (RA). All other students will receive standard summer permits.
Parking is generally more plentiful on campus in the summer, with additional options available for any valid UK permit.
Summer permits authorize students to park in most student lots, as well as Cornerstone Garage (PS #5), the Scott Street area lots and the Sports Center area lots. Please see the summer parking map for more details.
In addition, the top two floors of Hilltop Avenue Garage (PS #2) — levels 3 and 4 — will be open to individuals with any valid UK permit. This includes summer permits and other employee permit types. Levels one and two of Hilltop Avenue Garage are restricted to individuals with E2 or R2 permits.
Employee lots remain restricted to designated employee permits throughout the summer months. Summer permits are not valid in employee lots until off-peak hours.
Most lots are controlled for valid permits from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. However, many employee intermediate (E) lots revert to any valid permit after 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Please pay attention to signage at the entrances to lots and structures.
Some lots and structures remain on control for specific permit types 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These include:
- Employee Reserved lots
- Nutter Center Lot
- Memorial Coliseum residential areas (R17 and R18)
- Complex Drive (R7)
- Sports Center Drive Garage (PS #7)
- Football Training Center Core Lot
- South Mill Lot (C41)
- Seminary area residential lots (R29 and R30)
Metered or paid visitor lots also remain on control over the summer and require payment. Summer parking permits do not authorize users to park at meters or in pay lots without paying the meter.
Please note that even when lots are not controlled for permits, they are still monitored for other parking violations including, but not limited to, parking in fire lanes, parking on yellow lines and unauthorized parking in ADA-accessible areas
For more information, please call the office at 859-257-5757 or email UK Transportation Services.
As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
