Traffic Rerouting from Hospital Drive Connector

LEXINGTON, Ky.  (April 1, 2010) —  Beginning Monday, April 5, preparation for the development of the Rose Street plaza area will  begin as part of the construction plan for the new pavilion at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital.

Work in this area will mean a temporary rerouting of traffic from the Hospital Drive connector to a Rose Street connector. This is expected to have minimal impact on shuttle buses and users of that area. The temporary connector is projected to serve until mid-May, at which time the current route will reopen. From mid-May until mid-July work will be taking place south of the bridge between the Gill and Charles T. Wethington buildings. These changes are not expected to affect traffic passing under the bridge.

In addition, plans are now being finalized to improve the employee drop-off and pickup area in the space north of the Gill-CTW bridge. Details will be released once plans are complete.

Please note that throughout this process, safe sidewalk passage for pedestrians between UK Chandler Hospital, the Wethington Building and South Limestone will be maintained at all times.
