Trash Compactor Installation to Impact Parking

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2019) — The installation of compactors for recycling and landfill-bound waste is expected to begin next week in the vicinity of the Terrell Civil Engineering Building and the Mineral Industries Building, located off Graham Avenue. The construction project will impact employee parking in this area.

Contractors are expected to begin fencing off the parking lot between the Terrell and Mineral Industries next week, to make way for construction. Twenty-three parking spaces will be impacted through the end of spring break. Five of those spaces will continue to be affected throughout the entirety of the project, which is expected to last through the summer.

The compactor installation is part of UK’s College of Law expansion and renovation project. The goal is to reduce the volume of waste in the vicinity, without the need for multiple dumpsters.

During the life of the project, affected employees may park in the Slone Research Building lot, also located off Graham Avenue; the Press Avenue Garage, located off Press and Virginia avenues; or the Scott Street lots.
