LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 4, 2024) — Registration for free regional airport shuttle service is now available for Thanksgiving Break.

This service is offered by UK Transportation Services and provides students, faculty and staff with free rides to and from Kroger Field to Blue Grass Airport (LEX), Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). It’s offered in partnership with the UK Student Transportation Council.

For Thanksgiving Break, shuttles will leave campus at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 27. Riders should plan to arrive at their departure airport at least two hours before take-off.

Return trips from the three airports to campus are scheduled for noon and 7 p.m. Dec. 1.

Visit UK Transportation Services website to sign up for a ride. Registration must be requested at least one day in advance.

For students who need assistance getting to Kroger Field, Transportation Services recommends using the on-campus Blue or White Route that runs every 7-10 minutes. Service for the Blue and White Routes begins at 6:45 a.m. weekdays.

Riders should leave their residence halls 30 minutes prior to their airport shuttle departure time to ensure they have plenty of travel time to catch the shuttle. Our airport shuttles depart from and return to gate six at Kroger Field.

Those returning to campus after the break will be able to catch the weekend Yellow Route from Kroger Field to the greater campus area. The Yellow Route will run from noon to midnight on Dec. 1.

Riders who book a seat on a shuttle and later need to cancel their reservations should email UK Transportation Services or call 859-257-7202 so that the seat can be made available to someone else.

For those planning ahead, information about Winter Break shuttles is also available online.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
