UK Computer Systems Down for Scheduled Maintenance on Dec. 28

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 27, 2013) — Most enterprise computer systems at the University of Kentucky, including email and Blackboard services, will be unavailable on Saturday, Dec. 28.

UK Academic Planning, Analytics and Technology has scheduled routine maintenance and upgrades to various systems that day. Blackboard and its peripheral systems will be shut down at midnight.

The following services will not be available for the duration of the outage:

  • SAP administrative system
  • myUK portal
  • Exchange (campus-based email)
  • voice mail

The following services will not be impacted: 

  • telephone service
  • network connectivity
  • Active Directory
  • F5 routing
  • InformaCast based paging (emergency and overhead), except for those devices located in McVey Hall

Lync will be available with limited functionality. IM capability will be available. www.uky.edu will be available as well, in a limited capacity.

By 8 a.m., most systems, including SAP, Exchange, the VMFarms, and TSM will be unavailable. Users will be unable to access data in SAP, receive or send email from UK Exchange accounts or access Blackboard. All systems are expected to be restored by Saturday evening.
