UK Media Advisory: Campus Crime Bulletin
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 17, 2024) — In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK community.
On Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, the UK Police Department received a report of a drug-related incident. The incident is reported to have occurred Saturday, Sept. 14. While on campus, the victim was given a drink and later learned that it contained a controlled substance, which led to them becoming ill and receiving medical attention. UK Police and the appropriate campus units are actively investigating this matter.
The University of Kentucky values a safe community for all students, staff, faculty and visitors. In the interest of promoting a safe and secure campus environment, UK Police offers the following tips to help keep our community safe:
- Don’t accept drinks from strangers or drinks you did not see being made.
- Don’t leave your drink unattended. If your drink was left unattended, get a new drink when you return.
- Prevention, Outreach and Wellness Education Resources (POWER) offers programs and resources related to student wellness. Find POWER’s alcohol and drug prevention and education resources here.
- If you would like to learn more about best practices and UK policies to help you make informed decisions about alcohol and drinking behaviors that may occur around you, you can also take the free AlcoholEdu Course.
- Request a FREE SAFECATS student safety escort or coordinate after-hours on-demand bus service during the fall and spring semesters by calling 859-257-SAFE (7233).
You can also request vouchers for discounted Uber rides through the Wildcab Vouchers program. Wildcab Vouchers provides eligible students with up to 10 $10 ride vouchers per semester. The vouchers are valid on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between 9 p.m.-5 a.m. within the program’s designated service area.
