UK Police Take Juvenile into Custody for Attempted Armed Robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 15, 2022) — On Monday, March 14, UK Police (UKPD) took a 14-year-old juvenile subject into custody related to a reported armed robbery attempt on Monday, March 7.

On Monday, March 7, UK Police were called to an armed robbery attempt near the intersection of Prall Street and South Limestone. There, a female was approached by an unknown individual who brandished a pistol and demanded money. 

The victim immediately ran and entered a local establishment while the suspect ran westbound on Prall Street. 

Based on this information, video evidence from the area and tips from the community, UK Police led an investigation, with the assistance of Lexington Police Department, to identify the suspect involved.

As a result of the investigation, at approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, UK Police and Lexington Police were able to take a 14-year-old juvenile subject into custody without incident on Colfax Street. 

The juvenile was interviewed and subsequently confessed to using an airsoft pistol to commit the robbery. 

The juvenile was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

  • If you see something, say something. For emergencies, call 911.
  • Report any suspicious activities in or around your building to UKPD.
  • Lock all windows and doors while away.
  • Make sure that all lights, door locks and window locks are in proper working order.
  • Maintain a thorough record of your valuables, including photographs, serial numbers, makes and models, etc.
  • Make sure all doors are locked while inside your vehicle.
