UK Police Make Arrest in Safety Threat Aimed at White Hall Classroom Building

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 8, 2018) – University of Kentucky Police – working with FBI officials – arrested a 19-year-old woman early this morning in connection with safety threats Wednesday aimed at White Hall Classroom Building.

Haily Loriane Duvall, 19, a sophomore from Glasgow, Kentucky, has been charged with terroristic threatening 2nd degree and filing a false police report. She is also a part-time employee at UK HealthCare.

Duvall is in the Fayette Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned later today. Duvall could face additional federal charges, pending the outcome of further investigation, police said.

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said Duvall was the person who originally contacted UK Police yesterday afternoon to report threats that were being distributed via Snapchat.

Monroe said that while safety officials never believed the threats were credible or substantive, making a threat such as this one is a serious offense.

Police officers, working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, utilized digital forensic evidence gathered from social media posts to identify a location in Lexington where they believed the threats were coming from.

“The University of Kentucky prides itself on creating a safe and secure environment for our faculty, staff, and students,” Monroe said. “UK Police will continue to have a visible presence in the main campus area. The University of Kentucky Police Department continues to value our law enforcement partnerships in accomplishing this mission.”

Monroe said UK Police will maintain a heightened presence on campus today to provide a sense of assurance to the campus community.
