LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 21, 2024) — The University of Kentucky Staff Senate is hard at work planning UK Appreciation Day to celebrate employees' dedication and the outstanding service they bring to the university every day.

As we approach UK Appreciation Day 2024, Staff Senate is now accepting submissions for the 2024 UK Appreciation Day T-shirt design.

These annual limited-edition T-shirts feature unique designs that reflect the spirit and pride of the University of Kentucky. Each year the design is chosen from submissions from UK employees.

Interested in submitting a design? These are some guidelines that must be honored for a design to be considered:

  • No outdated versions of the UK logo or mascot are allowed.
  • The UK and/or UK Appreciation Day logos cannot be enclosed within a circle or square.
  • Designs must feature only one color and be suited for a short-sleeved T-shirt (shirt color TBD).
  • Designs must contain the phrase “Appreciation Day 2024” within the design.
  • No hand-drawn entries, designs must be sent in digital format.
  • For more information on brand standards, please visit the UKPR and Marketing website.

Please submit designs via email to UKAD@uky.edu by Friday, March 8, 2024.

The finalists will be selected by the Staff Senate Special Events Committee and approved by UK Public Relations and Marketing (some minor modifications may be necessary with the final design). Three designs will be chosen and voted on by the university community in early March. The winner will receive a prize from Staff Senate.

NOTE: Staff Senate is not accepting Appreciation Day T-shirt orders at this time. They are currently only accepting design submissions. More information on shirt orders will come soon via email and UKNow.

UK Appreciation Day is sponsored by the Office of the President, and coordinated by the UK Staff Senate.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
