Carvalho to Participate in APsaA Teachers' Academy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2012) – Dr. Cletus Carvalho, director of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine's Psychiatry Residency Program and medical director for UK's Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, has been chosen as one of six members to participate in second class of the American Psychoanalytic Association's Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Teachers' Academy - a professional program development for teachers of psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy.

The Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Teachers' Academy works to nurture and develop psychoanalytic educators of the future. The Academy provides the opportunity for clinical teachers in psychiatry residency, psychology graduate and social work graduate programs to engage in professional development programs designed to facilitate an interest in psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy. The program also helps participants increase their teaching effectiveness with trainees.

Carvalho was one of six teachers chosen annually at the APsaA's National Meeting. The academy consists of specially designed programs, meetings with master teachers, individualized mentoring and the opportunity learn together to develop their individual teaching work.
