Crime Bulletin Issued After Robbery Reported

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 19, 2012) - In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK community.
 
The UK Police Department has been informed that the following crime, which has occurred near the UK campus, is being investigated by the Lexington Division of Police:
  • At approximately 10:55 p.m. on the date of Friday, May 18, 2012, a strong arm robbery occurred in a parking lot in the area of South Limestone and Transcript Avenue. The victim, a male UK student, was approached by 10 to 16 unknown subjects.  The suspects reportedly robbed the victim of personal property, knocked him to the ground and assaulted him causing minor injuries.  No weapon was seen or implied during the course of the crime.  The suspects are described as 10 to 15 black males and one white female and were last seen running in the direction of Broadway.

  • Do not travel alone after dark; walk with a friend or with a group.  
  • Whenever possible, look out for your friends when you go out together; walk together and make sure that everyone gets home safely.

  • Park in well-lit areas when possible.
  • Turn over any requested items (purse, wallet, etc).
  • Make statements with authority – “BACK-OFF! STOP! NO-WAY!” You deserve to be respected.
