December Commencement Is Just Around the Corner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 22, 2011) - Calling all December graduates! The website is now up and running, which means it’s time to start registering for December Commencement. Ceremonies will be held Friday, Dec. 16, in Memorial Coliseum. The Graduate and Professional Commencement Ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony at 6 p.m.

Graduates are asked to preregister by Dec. 1, at www.uky.edu/Commencement.

Electronic invitations are also available on the site to download, so family, friends and professors can be invited to watch your big moment.

Keeping with UK tradition, a student speaker will be selected for the undergraduate ceremony. December graduates interested in speaking at Commencement can fill out an application online at www.uky.edu/Commencement/speaker.htm. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Oct. 26.

To get ready for Commencement, the UK Alumni Association is hosting Grad Salute Oct. 4 and 5 at the King Alumni House. Graduates should plan to attend to finalize all the details of your graduation and order your caps and gowns. Regalia will also be available to purchase at the UK Bookstore for those unable to attend.
