Fighting Parkinson's Disease Is No Trivial Pursuit
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2010) - Do you love trivia games? Do you want to help University of Kentucky researchers in the fight against Parkinson's Disease? Are you free tonight? If the answer to these questions is "yes", then head on over to the 2010 Business Lexington Trivia Bowl.
All proceeds from this event will benefit the UK HealthCare Kentucky Neuroscience Institute and Parkinson's research at UK.
The Trivia Bowl will kick off at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Buster's (899 Manchester St., Lexington). Plan to arrive a bit early to be in place before the first buzzer sounds.
The cost to register a team of five players is $80, or individuals may enter for $20. Sign up at the door, or register online.
Top teams will receive cash prizes, and a special award will go to the group demonstrating the most "team spirit" and enthusiasm. Every participant will receive a commemorative tee shirt.
More than just a trivia tournament, the event will also include live music from three local bands: Palisades, The Bleats, and Coralee and the Townies. Silent auctions of sports memorabilia will also benefit KNI, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic (for those 21 and up) beverages may be purchased from Buster's. An after-party will kick off at about 10 p.m., hosted by Buster's.
Sponsors of the 2010 Trivia Bowl include the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, Smiley Pete Publishing, Business Lexington, Local Trivia Action, Buster's, Kutchback Holdings LLC, Savané Silver, Planet 10 and Community Trust and Investment Company. Whether you're a retired high school academic team champ, a frequent viewer of "Jeopardy!", or just someone dedicated to the fight against Parkinson's Disease, come out to demonstrate your trivia skills - in pursuit of a goal that is anything but trivial.
