Graduate Students Organize Coat Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 17, 2011) — Graduate students at the University of Kentucky are organizing a coat drive to benefit children at William Wells Brown Elementary School in Lexington.

The coat drive is sponsored by the UK Graduate School Student Diversity Advisory Committee (GSSDAC). Donations of coats, hats and mittens, in both children's and adult sizes, will be accepted from now through Dec. 2 on the first floor of the Gillis Building. Donations should be clean and in good, wearable condition.

Established in 2010, the GSSDAC is made up of student volunteers who are interested in an inclusive and supportive Graduate School. They provide advice on recruitment and retention initiatives in the Graduate School. Any interested graduate student is welcome to self-nominate to be a part of this council. For more information, please contact the Graduate School Diversity Office at (859) 257-2302 or grad.diversity@uky.edu.
