Homecoming 2013: Under the Big Blue Top

Published: Sep 12, 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2013) — As fall approaches, it’s time for Homecoming in the Bluegrass yet again! University of Kentucky Homecoming 2013 is Sunday, Oct. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 2. With a new season, comes a new and fresh approach to Homecoming 2013. The University of Kentucky Homecoming Coalition is pleased to announce this year's Homecoming theme is “Under the Big Blue Top.”

The Homecoming Coalition was created three years ago to help facilitate and promote a more unified Homecoming at UK. The coalition is comprised of representatives from the Student Activities Board, the Black Student Union, the Student Government Association, Center for Community Outreach - Dance Blue, TEAM WILDCAT and Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT). All of which work together to conduct a magnificent and cohesive show.

Homecoming week is teeming with events hosted by the various organizations listed above that are geared toward Wildcats young and old.

Below is a brief listing of this year’s Homecoming events.

Kitty Karnival

Kitty Karnival features small carnival games created by student organizations for children to come and enjoy on campus. Going on its seventh year, this event has become a UK and community tradition that both students and children love to attend! This event welcomes local schools, UK alumni, faculty, staff and students and their families. Stop by Good Barn Field from 5 to 7 p.m. and enjoy this event! Parking is available next to Good Barn Field.

Royalty Crowning

Come cheer on our Wildcats and find out who will be crowned as this year’s royalty. Homecoming royalty will be announced during the Homecoming football game vs. Alabama State.
