Ice Sculptors Fear No Ice Kick Off Art Matters Series

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 29, 2013) — Giant blocks of ice. Chainsaws. Amazing masterpieces. The Student Activities Board Cultural Arts Committee presents ice sculptors Fear No Ice as part of its 'Art Matters' series. The ice sculpting will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Free Speech Area, and again at 1 p.m. in the South Campus Courtyard.

Ice sculptors Fear No Ice have earned a reputation as the world’s premiere ice sculptors, taking part in numerous world championships and even representing the United States at three Winter Olympics. They often work with major companies including Coca-Cola and Disney, and have been featured on “The Rachael Ray Show,” “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live with Regis and Kathy Lee”.

“Cultural Arts is thrilled to bring Fear No Ice to campus for Art Matters,” said Brittany Woodrum, SAB director of cultural arts. “Ice sculpting is something we’ve never had before, and we think it’ll open minds to other unique forms of art.”

Fear No Ice is the first event of a two-part series titled Art Matters, which intends to bring greater awareness to nontraditional forms of art and increase its presence on campus.
