OLLI at UK to Hold Open House in Morehead

Published: Sep 7, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2012) − If you are an adult age 50 or over and love learning and expanding your knowledge simply for the joy of it, you are invited to learn about the events and programs at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UK, Morehead Open House on Sept. 13.

Join a dynamic group of adult learners in and around Rowan County who learn, share, and discuss ideas and common interests together. At the OLLI Open House, you can preview and choose from five different courses, six special interest groups, plus  events and a Saturday Seminar in Lexington to take part in this fall.

Fall courses will include:  Political Economy: Candidates & Party Views; Science Fiction and Classic Films and Discussions; Studio Art with Sandy and Joe; Introduction to the Power of Excel 2010; and Industry Tours of Eastern Kentucky.  Special interest groups (SIGs) include:  bridge, easy hiking, genealogy, non-fiction book discussion group, and Spanish conversation.

At the Open House, you can chat with instructors, register for courses and SIGs, meet people with the same interests and find new interests, and sign up to get involved with OLLI volunteer committees.  Refreshments served and door prizes will be drawn.

The Open House and registration for courses will be held 1 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Morehead United Methodist Church, Wesley Hall at 227 W. Main St. in Morehead.

Course registration tables will be open during the event.  Annual membership through summer 2013 is $25.  Most course fees are $10, but some fees may vary. Registration will open at open house and is on a first come basis.

For more information or to receive registration materials, please contact the OLLI Office toll free at (866) 602-5862 or (859) 257-2656.
