Piascik Elected President of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 14, 2011) − Peggy Piascik,  associate professor at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, has been elected president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
 

“I am thrilled and honored to have this opportunity,” Piascik said. “Having served in a variety of capacities at AACP over the years, I have the utmost respect for the organization and what it represents. I now have the chance to give back to a profession that has given me so much throughout my career. I can’t wait to get started.”
 

Piascik will serve in a three-year succession of offices: President-elect (2012-13), president (2013-14), and immediate past president (2014-15). In addition, she will serve a three-year term (July 2012-July 2015) on the AACP Board of Directors and will chair the board during her year as AACP president.
 

Piascik has been a faculty member in the College since 1980, winning a number of awards for her teaching excellence including two AACP Innovations in Teaching Awards. She also served as administrative coordinator for the College’s Non-traditional PharmD Option from its inception in 1988 through its termination in 2005. The program graduated more than 250 students.
 

Piascik has been active in AACP over the years. She served a three-year term on the AACP Board of Directors from 2001-2004, chaired the Council of Faculties during the 2002-2003 academic year, completed AACP’s Academic Leadership Fellows Program in 2006, and served as the Brodie Scholar-in-Residence in 2009-2010.
