Senior Star Adalin Stern Wichman

Adalin Stern Wichman is a 2010 Senior Star.

Wichman was nominated by Cynthia K. Matthews, who has know Wichman all of her life. "When I was a little girl, Adalin was the older cousin who loved to draw. But she is much more than that cousin I've always admired and emulated."

Wichman graduated Magna Cum Laude from UK, majoring in English Literature. She also attended UK art classes. She was married to William Wichman and has two children. Wichman began her own advertising agency first in fashion illustration, and later, in horse industry illustrations.

She is a world-acclaimed artist, sculptor and designer. Wichman designed and sculpted the original Eclipse Award trophy in 1971 for which she hold the copyright and continues to supervise and assemble 16 separate Eclipse awards annually.

Wichman designed and created the five-story Foucault pendulum clock, Bluegrass frieze and terrazzo floor for the Lexington Public Library, and was featured in a Headley-Whitney Museum show called "Seeing Joy." She also designed two horses for Horse Mania.

"Adalin's enthusiasm is boundless as is her energy," said Matthews. "She is always working on multiple projects and sponsors many scholarships to encourage young artists. One would think she was a generation younger."
