SGA Partnership Provides Election Information

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2012) – With elections just around the corner, Student Government encourages all students, faculty and staff at the University of Kentucky to register to vote. SGA has partnered with TurboVote, powered by Democracy, Inc., an online service that provides more efficient voter registration.

Visit www.uky.turbovote.org and fill out a short application, and you will be mailed an electronically generated voter registration form along with a pre-stamped envelope to return the form.

TurboVote can also help voters by sending out optional emails or texts with non-partisan election information about when and how to vote during Election Day and assist in the obtaining an absentee ballot. TurboVote is free for UK students, faculty and staff.

Please note that the deadline to register to vote using TurboVote is Tuesday, Sept. 25, so sign up now!

For general questions regarding voter registration, please access Kentucky's official Voter Registration Guide at http://elect.ky.gov/voterinfo/Pages/voterinformationguide.aspx

Student Government encourages prospective voters to register and make an informed decision on Election Day, but, most importantly, respect the different opinions that will come up across our diverse campus. It doesn’t matter whom you voted for, but rather that you voted at all.

For more information on TurboVote or the 2012 elections, please email ukstudentgovernment@gmail.com or visit our office, 120 Student Center.
