Students Promote 'Presentation U,' UK's Quality Enhancement Plan

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 3, 2013) — In one week, representatives from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) will be on the UK campus to evaluate UK's Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP.  The QEP, "Presentation U," represents one of the core requirements UK has undertaken to reaffirm its accreditation through SACS.  In preparation for their visit, the UK community, especially students, have been spreading the word about Presentation U.

Many students began assisting with promotional strategies for Presentation U at the beginning of the fall 2012 semester. With responsibilities ranging from social media efforts to explaining the initiative to their peers at campus events, they served as QEP peer ambassadors.

If students take a picture with Presentation U mascot "Chip," and upload it to the Presentation U Facebook page, or tweet the photo to @UKPresentationU, they will be entered to win a $100 gift certificate from the UK Bookstore. Chip is scheduled to be at the White Hall Classroom Building noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4 and noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 8.

Chip is the doodled image of a UK student, and represents all UK students who are "the ultimate presentation." He is featured in a promotional video about Presentation U, which was created and produced by UK students.

UK senior Kody Little helps manage Presentation U' social media presence.

"It's important to help students improve their communication and presentation skills, because communication is used in every aspect of life," Little said. "While students will be graduating with the degrees and qualifications for an anticipated job, good presentation skills will help bridge the gap between college and career. It means a lot to be part of such an important initiative for the university."
