Tickets On Sale Now for It Gets Better Project

Published: Feb 24, 2012

Description: <--break- />LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 24, 2012) – Tickets are now available for Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” Project, who will be visiting the University of Kentucky to speak against hate and intolerance at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in Memorial Hall on UK's campus.

Savage, author of “It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living,” created the “It Gets Better” campaign in a response to the numerous suicides of youth who were harassed due to their sexual orientation. The program is designed to encourage the global movement of overcoming the hardships of hate to earn the respect LGBT youth deserve. There will be a question and answer session following the lecture along with a book signing.

Tickets are free to all attendees and can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Student Center Ticket Office.

The Student Activities Board brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
