UK Admissions' Facebook Application Named One of the Best

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 6, 2012) – UK Office of Undergraduate Admission's Facebook application is gaining attention and praise from social media experts. The folks at Merge Web Excellence recently highlighted the application as one of the best examples in higher education.

The application, designed in conjunction with Jim D'Amico of Oncampus, merges UK's "see blue." campaign with fun, light-hearted hand drawn elements and information that a prospective student would need to learn more about UK. The application also has a video player to feature alumni stories; Matt Cutts of Google is currently featured.

The application is a tab of the university's official Facebook page and serves as the welcome page for undergraduate admissions' Facebook page.

"We are thrilled with the success and growth of our Facebook page for undergraduate admissions," Don Witt, vice provost for enrollment management, said. "Research continues to show that prospective students are trending towards learning about universities via Facebook and other social media outlets. We've designed this page to be informative and fun and repurposing several of the great video pieces that UK Public Relations and Marketing has produced for us."

Other institutions highlighted in the article include Arizona State University, Texas A&M University and the College of Charleston.
