UK Event will Explore Law and Policy Surrounding Energy and the Environment

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 17, 2016) — The environment is a popular topic within our society, government and news. Presidential candidates are arguing over renewable energy and fossil fuels. Scientists demand changes in regards to climate change and the environment. Discussing these topics and more, the University of Kentucky College of Law and its Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Law (KJEARNL) will host a symposium on Wednesday, March 2.

The “Energy and Environment Symposium: The Interplay of Regulations and Natural Resources Law and Policy,” an all-day event, will feature several experts and prominent speakers on the topics of mineral and energy law, health and public safety, and the environment. 

The event will feature a morning session on “Energy — The Power of Regulation,” moderated by Maureen Carman, past president of the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation. The event will also feature an afternoon session on health and the environment, moderated by UK Law Professor Michael Healy who previously worked in the appellate section of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

This public event will be held at the UK College of Law, beginning at 8:45 a.m. and concluding at 5:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, visit http://law.uky.edu/kjeanrlsymp.
