UK Students Present Winter Dance Concert, 'Loud and Clear'
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 16, 2013) — The University of Kentucky Department of Theatre presents the second annual Winter Dance Concert, "Loud and Clear." The contemporary dance concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 26, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Guignol Theatre, located in the UK Fine Arts Building on Rose St.
"Loud and Clear," performed by a collection of undergraduate and graduate students including 20 dance minors, features dances from guest choreographers Stephanie Harris and Amy Chavasse, as well as UK's Dance Program Coordinator Susie Thiel. Harris' work examines how the memory of life experiences molds individuals, and it culminates around the installation piece, "Fallen," by Becky Ally, artist and exhibitions and programs director at the Lexington Art League. Chavasse created a new work combining a collage of the dancers with her own habitual movement choices. Thiel choreographed two works; the first dance draws inspiration from a selection of Czech Folk songs, and the second one explores how creativity works in the brain.
Tickets to “Loud and Clear” are $10 for students and $15 for general admission. To reserve tickets, call the Singletary Center for the Arts ticket office at 859-257-4929 or visit online at scfatickets.com.
