International Engineering Education Meeting Coming to Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 28, 2013) — The University of Kentucky College of Engineering will host the 16th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education, taking place Nov. 6-9 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Lexington.
The meeting brings together faculty, administrators, exchange organizations, funding agencies, nonprofits and industry to discuss strategies and best practices for internationalizing the engineering curriculum, and for giving future engineers better exposure to the global engineering profession.
With about 150 participants expected, mostly from the United States but also from Germany, France, Mexico, South Korea, India and other countries, the colloquium is a venue to exchange ideas and to share approaches to support study, work, service learning and research abroad.
Organizers say the colloquium will be perfectly suited for universities, schools and colleges who are just getting started, as well as those who are trying to expand their offerings or internationalization strategies.
Anyone with an interest in helping to improve education of global engineers is invited to attend and participate. Industry participants and supporters will have access to institutions educating the "global engineer," and academics will be able to get industry’s input on what is needed in their curriculum. Help on getting started, assessment of study abroad programs, best practices and ideas for funding these programs are being shared.
