Ready Yourself for Retirement

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2018) — With retirement looking differently than it has in the past, Americans may have to work up to 30 more years. To help with deciding how to fill those years, the University of Kentucky Alumni Career Services and UK Human Resources will host the “Recalculating: Career Direction After 50” workshop 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at King Alumni House, located at 400 Rose St.

Whether you need to spend those additional years working primarily for financial reasons or plan to work more for enjoyment/satisfaction, this workshop will help you explore options and learn how to transition smoothly.

This workshop will:

  • Share research and statistics on how baby boomers are approaching retirement years.
  • Present strategies and resources for a job search after 50.
  • Feature success stories of people who have shifted gears and changed course after 50.

The cost is $10 plus tax for UK Alumni Association members and UK employees and $15 plus tax for nonmembers. Light refreshments will be served. Register for the event at www.ukalumni.net/recalculating18. Registration is limited and expected to fill quickly.

Workshop facilitators Diane Kohler, manager of UK Human Resources Staff Career Development, and Caroline Francis, of UK Alumni Career Services, have more than 60 years of experience working with clients of all ages and in all stages of career transition.
