UK Great Teachers Discuss Public Health in Virtual Speaker Series
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 16, 2020) — What do we now know about COVID-19 and how it spreads? How can sophisticated modeling of the pandemic help us plan for the future? What is being done for long-term care residents? And why is COVID-19 disproportionately affecting minority groups in Kentucky and beyond?
Please join University of Kentucky public health faculty in a virtual panel discussion, Public Health in the Time of COVID-19, at 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 17, via Zoom.
Hosted by 2020 Great Teacher award winner Martha Riddell, our panel will answer some of the top questions about COVID-19. This session will feature the following experts from the College of Public Health:
- Donna Arnett, dean, UK College of Public Health; professor, Department of Epidemiology;
- Keith Knapp, associate professor, Department of Health Management and Policy;
- Martha Riddell, associate professor, Department of Health Management and Policy; director, Master of Health Administration Program;
- Teresa Waters, professor and chairwoman, Department of Health Management and Policy; associate dean for research, Charles T. Wethington Jr. Endowed Chair in the Health Sciences; and
- Kathleen Winter, assistant professor, Department of Epidemiology.
This session is part of the “Great Teachers on Great Challenges” virtual speaker series, which is co-sponsored by the UK Alumni Association and the Provost’s Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT). The series will regularly conduct conversations with UK faculty who have won the UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award, the oldest, continuously given award for teachers at the University of Kentucky. With the goal of responding to the numerous questions pertaining to COVID-19 and its effects locally and globally, these sessions will unpack the insights and expertise of UK’s teacher-scholars for all audiences.
