UK Trombone Studio’s Pandemic Album Available Now
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 22, 2021) — Even during a pandemic, University of Kentucky School of Music’s most talented instrumentalists not only continued to perform but they also recorded and produced new music. One such album completed during the global pandemic, UK Trombone Studio’s “Global Graffiti: New Music for Trombone,” was released this spring.
Under the leadership of Bradley Kerns, director of undergraduate studies and associate professor, Wildcats in the UK Trombone Studio wrote and recorded 14 new works for trombone in Fall 2020. As many of UK’s students completed studies remotely during the height of the pandemic, the idea was to create accessible unaccompanied compositions.
“I’m so incredibly proud of these students! Recording and producing an album distributed worldwide is impressive enough, but to compose all new works and content for the project is unprecedented,” Kerns said.
Music lovers can find the album “Global Graffiti” on major streaming platforms, including iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.
The School of Music at the UK College of Fine Arts has garnered a national reputation for high-caliber education in opera, choral and instrumental music performance, as well as music education, music therapy, composition, and theory and music history.
