Luau for Life Concert Benefits Kentucky Children's Hospital
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, 2010) – The annual pediatric cancer survivors' picnic, sponsored by Kentucky Children's Hospital, will benefit from a Talon Winery summer concert, "Luau for Life" from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 12. Talon Winery and Vineyards is located at 7086 Tates Creek Road in Lexington.
The Jimmy Buffett style music will be provided by Matt Gerwin and Todd Starns. "Leis for Life" will be sold and a special edition wine called, "Taste for Life" will be available for sale.
The special edition wine label was designed by pediatric cancer survivor, Nathan Cunningham, 10, son of Robin and Eric Cunningham of Danville.
Pediatric cancer survivor, Gavin Carr, 6, son of Elizabeth and Robert Carr of Nicholasville is the spokesperson for this year's picnic. Both the Cunningham and Carr families will attend the event.
"Our goal for this event is to raise awareness for pediatric cancer patients and bring recognition to the tremendous battle that these kids are faced with every day," said Andrea J. Nichols, a Kentucky Children's Hospital nurse and one of the event planners.
The upcoming pediatric cancer survivors' picnic, arranged by health professionals at Kentucky Children's Hospital, is for all young patients who are currently receiving treatment or have received treatment. The picnic will be held Aug. 28.
