UK hosts open house for future educators

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2025) — High school students interested in teaching careers are invited to attend an open house this fall at the University of Kentucky.
The Future Educators Open House will take place 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the UK Gatton Student Center. Registration is open for school groups planning field trips or for individual prospective students interested in education.
“This event allows students to explore what it’s like to pursue a degree in education,” said Jenna DeMastes, director of undergraduate recruitment for the UK College of Education. “They will meet faculty, current students and advisors and ask questions to learn what college is like and how they can make an impact in an education career.”
After the open house, prospective students can experience UK Dining with a complimentary lunch at Champions Kitchen.
“As a former teacher and principal, I know firsthand how fulfilling and impactful a career in education can be,” said UK College of Education Dean Nicholas J. Pace, Ed.D. “There’s no better way to impact the world and give back than choosing the life of a teacher. It’s bigger than a career. It's a life of impact where you can make a lasting difference in the lives of others every single day.”
Several scholarship, loan and grant opportunities for education majors can be explored on the College of Education website.
