LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 21, 2026) — The University of Kentucky Leadership Development Collaborative and the Leadership Advisory Council are presenting the UK Faculty and Staff Leadership Development Seminar 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in the Lewis Scholars Lounge.

The seminar, now in its second year, is titled, “Engaging Students in Leadership Skills Across the Curriculum.”

As UK continues to advance Kentucky by preparing students to transform their talents, ideas, and discoveries into real-world impact, this seminar seeks to fortify the development of student leadership skills, which is one of the 10 essential skills in the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education's Graduate Profile.

“In this seminar, representatives from UK's Graduate Profile team, Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, and Center for the Enhancement of Learning & Teaching (CELT) will facilitate an interactive workshop on ways of engaging students in learning experiences that address and assess leadership skills across our full range of unique disciplinary settings,” said Trey Conatser, Ph.D., assistant provost for teaching and learning and director of CELT. Conatser is also a panelist for the seminar.

Other panelists include:

  • Brandi Frisby, Ph.D., associate provost for academic affairs
  • Shawna Felkins, Ph.D., senior faculty/instructional consultant, CELT
  • Ania Peczalska, Ph.D., director of institutional effectiveness, strategic planning and institutional effectiveness
  • Beth Garvy, Ph.D., professor and senior associate dean for biomedical education, College of Medicine

The University of Kentucky Leadership Development Collaborative is funded by the UK Office of the Provost’s Institutional Multidisciplinary Paradigm to Accelerate Collaboration and Transformation Awards.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and healthcare. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $1.02 billion research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
